In 1997, production of escarole/endive was down about 9.2% from 1996.

Total production of artichokes amounted to 865,000 cwt in California in 1997 (yield = 95 cwt/acre), with a total value of $67,620,000. In 1997, production of artichokes in California was down about 2.8% from 1996.
