Hoophouse Handbook: Growing Produce and Flowers in
Hoophouses and High Tunnels—by Growing for Market Market farmers
are amazed at how profitable these low-tech structures can be. They are
used to extend the season, increase yield, improve quality and provide
a measure of income security. Most growers find they pay for themselves
in one growing season. This 60-page special issue explains the best crops
to grow in hoophouses, and provides detailed instructions with more than
50 photos and illustrations, on how to build one.

Hightunnels.org
High tunnels, or hoophouses, are unheated greenhouses that
can help market gardeners extend their growing season so that they can
improve the profitability of their farms. This website is part of a USDA-sponsored
project that is testing and promoting high tunnel systems in the Central
Great Plains.
We hope to provide information developed under our project, and links
to relevant sites around the world, so that growers and educators have
a one-stop source where they can find information on all aspects of high
tunnel construction and use.
