Pea - Flower

The flower of the pea plant is characteristic of Fabaceae, the pea or legume family.  There are 5 petals on this irregular flower; 1 large broad upper "banner" petal, 2 "wing" petals on either side, and 2 lower "keel" petals that are joined to form a canoe shape.
