Kohlrabi is grown for the slightly flattened, round swollen stem at the base of the plant. The stem may be purple or green and is similar in appearance to turnip or rutabaga. However, kohlrabi leaves extend directly from the swollen stem whereas turnips and rutabagas are root crops and their leaves form at the top of the root. |
